Intro
With the ever-growing want to create pixel art for my website, I need to practice creating pixel art. There are a lot of forms that I need to practice. One of those forms is shading. Now When I practice shading I want to work with something that I already have some sort of grasp on. In my mind, the thing that comes easiest to me is creating pixel characters. This will be an easy way to merge something I’m confident in with something I’m less confident in so I only have one variable that is stacked against me.
Something That I have been learning about more and more is hue shifting and to not using too many colors when shading. This has allowed me to focus on about 5 colors per single color I use. There will always be a mid-tone which is what I focus on when I first create a sprite. Then I have 2 light tones and 2 dark tones. This seems like one of the best ways I have found to create shading for my art.
